Update on UA CASE ASA Institute 2020

April 13, 2020

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this difficult time. I hope you all have been doing well and staying safe. In light of this situation, however, all face-to-face CASE Institutes have been cancelled through June 30th. A virtual alternative for ASA will be implemented by CASE and more details are forthcoming. You must have an existing CASE certification to participate (AFNR, ASP, etc). Unfortunately ABF does not meet the CASE requirements for a pre-existing certification due to the limitations of the briefcase model.

CASE outlines next steps for participants in their announcement. Please complete these steps as soon as you can. This includes formally cancelling through CASE, or if you are eligible, opting into the virtual ASA institute for this summer. Please also communicate with us here at the UA your plans so we can work on providing reimbursement for completed payments (rest assured we will refund you in full) or forward your payments to CASE if you are eligible and interested in the virtual ASA institute this summer. We completely understand any decision you make during this time and thank you for your cooperation. Again you will be fully reimbursed for your payment provided you confirm your cancellation by May 1st. Please also be aware that the option for July CASE Institutes are still open, so feel free to sign up for one in place of our June one, with the understanding that it is highly likely that July institutes could also experience a cancellation in the coming weeks.

Finally, if you received a CASE scholarship, either from CASE or from AATA (Arizona teachers) for this year, you will be able to use it for the virtual ASA institute or a future CASE institute next summer 2021. Please let us know via email if you received a CASE scholarship so we can track those payments.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself (elabut@email.arizona.edu and/or Dr. Amber Rice (amrice@email.arizona.edu) if you have any questions or concerns. We recognize your need as educators for professional development and are dedicated to providing you a quality experience no matter the circumstances. It is our sincere hope that we will be able to offer a CASE institute next summer at the UA. More information to come at a later date.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience. Stay safe!
